Dustsceawung. A word in Old English which belongs wholly to that civilisation — "dustsceawung," meaning contemplation of dust. It is a true image of the Anglo-Saxon mind, or at least an echo of that consciousness which considered transience and loss to be part of the human estate; it was a world in which life was uncertain and the principal deity was fate or destiny or "wyrd."
So maybe a new post soon... but only after more contemplation.

Postings
Recently there has been a serious lack of posts on this site. I am sorry for the lack of material but I do have a couple of reasons.
1. My laptop died. It died in a real bad way. It went from being slow and crashing a lot to it will not turn on and totally bricked.
2. I started a new blog with my buddies that will allow me to create two different avenues for writing. PEOP will start to be more political and news oriented while I write sports and "guy" related topics for Daddy's Sugar Ball.
3. With the presidential election winding down and the election now over I need time to refocus on the new political landscape as such I am going to take some time from writing about politics to digest what has happened and will start back up after I have figured it all out.
Quick story about the smears against Sarah Palin...
Via Isaac Chotiner, Newsweek reports: "The day of the third debate, Palin refused to go onstage with New Hampshire GOP Sen. John Sununu and Jeb Bradley, a New Hampshire congressman running for the Senate, because they were pro-choice and because Bradley opposed drilling in Alaska. The McCain campaign ordered her onstage at the next campaign stop, but she refused to acknowledge the two Republican candidates standing behind her. "
So according to the hatchet man/woman who talked to Newsweek, Palin is such an ideologue about drilling in ANWR that she won't stand next to Bradley, even though John McCain has the exact same position?
And Palin is such an ideologue that she won't appear with pro-choice politicians, even though she attended events with pro-choice Clinton donor Lady Lynn Forester de Rothschild?
And we're really supposed to believe that Palin is so dumb she doesn't know Africa is a continent, but she knew about the voting records of John Sununu and Jeb Bradley in the first place?
Hmmm. I guess that might be remotely possible if it weren't for the fact that John Sununu has a 100 percent pro-life rating from the National Right to Life Committee.
Glad to see that whoever leaked this story is too dumb to come up with a plausible smear. And kudos to Newsweek for dumping this whopper without bothering to check if Sununu is in fact pro-abortion.
Oh, and by the way, Jeb Bradley wasn't running for U.S. Senate, as Newsweek reports. Perhaps they might want to check out Wikipedia before publishing the next batch of Palin smears.
Thanks for your patience and for checking out my site. For more of my stuff check out my postings on Daddy's Sugar Ball.

Maeby I'm Right Returns...
This post is from friend of Bearcat and occasional contributor Maeby I'm Right...
TGITDATE! (Thank God it’s the Day After the Election). Gawd. This election has been brutal not just on the candidates, but also on the average American and probably Canadians and Mexicans who live in close proximity to the border and may receive American TV broadcasts. Many people were beside themselves with excitement this November 4th. I was one of them. But not for the same reason as everyone else. I’m not a hyper super-devoted supporter of either candidate. I was excited that it was finally going to be over. No more recorded phone messages from the likes of John McCain, Tom Ridge, Bill Clinton, Barack Obama, Ed Rendell, etc. I’m surprised I didn’t get one from Chuck Norris for God’s sake. No more advertisements hanging on my doorknobs when I get home. No more postcards in the mail. No more TV and radio ads. I saw that damn “Obama = Untested” ad with the pitching ocean waves so many times that I thought a ‘Deadliest Catch’ marathon was on. I was excited at the prospect of peace and quiet.
Yesterday many of my coworkers went to vote before work. I waited until after work because I know how people in central PA are. They exhibit such a herd-like mentality and are so easily swayed by one person’s assumptions that I knew it would only take one pundit to talk about long voting lines to make everyone rush to the polls first thing in the morning because otherwise they might wait in line all day! Right. So sure enough, many of my colleagues waited in line an hour or more in the morning. I went after dinner when I knew there would be no line. While I’m not going to divulge who I voted for, I will share a timeline of my thoughts and actions last night:
6:48 pm – Leave my house; pull back into driveway because I forgot cable bill and want to drop it off after I vote.
6:49 pm – Leave house again with cable bill in hand. Would’ve walked but it was dark, drizzling and need to pay above-mentioned cable bill.
6:51 pm – Arrive at polling place. Observe 7 cars in parking lot…..
6:52 pm – Enter polling place. Apparently cars belong to poll workers. No one in line, no one voting. See nosy neighbor. Sign in.
6:53 pm – Nosy neighbor recognizes me. Introduces me to her son who signed me in. Emphasizes that I live alone in the house across the street formerly occupied by the Smith* family. (*Name changed.) Introduces me to niece also working polls.
6:54 pm – Curmudgeonly old man begrudgingly gives me a white plastic card to give to voting machine attendant after asking me in a suspicious voice “Did you sign in?” Well yes I did Wilbur, you just watched me do it.
6:55 pm – Take white card to disinterested old woman sitting by voting machines. She refuses to look at me and I stand there with my eyebrows raised and hand with card outstretched. She finally sighs heavily in annoyance, looks around me and yells “T* - it’s your turn. I’m not getting up.” (T is the nosy neighbor’s niece.)
6:56 pm – Totally taken aback by evil grandma and grandpa’s attitudes, I get machine instructions from T. Almost had a heart attack when I thought she accidentally voted a straight Republican ticket for me.
6:57 pm – Stare at options on my ballot. Think to myself “Really?! These are my only two options for president? An ancient white guy with a strangely waxen wife and a vice-presidential candidate who may possibly be dumber than George W? And an emotionless black man devoid of personality running with a white guy who can’t keep his foot out of his mouth? Really?! How did we get to this point??
6:58 pm – Press vote, confirm my ballot, thank T. Pity three men who came in behind me who now have to deal with the cranky old people up past their bedtime, and duck out before nosy neighbor can talk to me more.
7:00 pm – Drop cable bill off.
7:05 pm – Return home and watch DVR episode of Lipstick Jungle. Underrated show, give it a chance. Andrew McCarthy hasn’t aged as well as Rob Lowe but he’s still darn cute.
10:00 pm – Absently flip through various cable stations (except Fox News). Surprised PA called for Obama so early. See ABC News talk to Oprah Winfrey about her early support of Obama and want to throw up. I.Can’t.Stand.Her. I may quite possibly be the only female in America who doesn’t watch her show but the mere sight of her and especially the sound of her overbearing voice make me quiver in rage like the Hulk. She proceeds to talk about how her polling place is near a rehab center and mentions how the addicts there were excited to vote and gosh darn it, they’ll even take the drug addict vote if it’s for Obama! WTF???!!!! Will no one call her out on that??? It was totally inappropriate, rude and discriminatory but no one will say anything because she’s the almighty Oprah Winfrey. I can’t even get into my intense hatred for her – that is for another time and another post.
10:45 pm – Get excited when it appears that our slimeball state Attorney General might be defeated.
11:08 pm – See that major networks have called election for Obama. Although ambivalent and not a supporter of either candidate, admit that I am a little proud and dare I say, hopeful. I admit that there is something very seductive about being able to say you were there when history happened, that you saw the first black man elected President. Then remember that I’m super pissed off that I can’t say I saw the first woman elected President. Yet.
11:10 pm – Flip to BBC America to see what the international reaction is. Seemingly disaffected and nasal British voice saying “Oh look, isn’t that Jesse Jackson. He’s very emotional (he was crying). It must be bittersweet for him.” Other commentator pipes in “Why do you say that?” “Well because I’m sure he wanted to be the first black president and is wondering ‘Why wasn’t it me?’” Right. Thankfully McCain’s concession speech cuts in.
11:30 pm – Surprisingly moved by McCain. He really is a classy guy and I respect that. Get annoyed that people in his audience boo Obama’s name every name it’s mentioned – lack of respect made it seem like he was talking to a Philadelphia crowd. Am surprised that there are palm trees in AZ. Got grossed out by him clearing out his phlegmy throat a few times. Eew.
12:00 am – Watch President-Elect come out with family. Those daughters of his are really cute. Am annoyed by how unemotional he is. You just won the U.S. presidency – show a little emotion for God’s sake. Smile a little bit. Laugh a little bit. Tear up a little bit. Say you’re going to Disney World. Anything to show you’re not a robot.
12:05 am – Get exasperated when it appears that aforementioned slimeball state Attorney General has come from behind and may defend. Ugh.
12:06 am – Go to bed because I don’t need to stay up and listen to one of his long-winded “inspirational” speeches.
So there it is, my Election Day 2008. Hope you all did your civic duty yesterday and didn’t feel as depressed about it as I did.
Maeby I’m Right
Special thanks to Maeby for saving my ass. I know I promised yesterday a running diary but my laptop has completely crashed and does not look like it can be brought back to life, couple that with what I thought was a lousy running diary and you are left with out a posting from me today. I do promise to have my reaction to the election up soon... expect it to not be what you might expect me to say...
Thanks for checking out the site please comment or email at billybearcat@gmail.com. If you wish to read my Steelers vs. Redskins Running Diary please check out a new site Daddy's Sugar Ball; to which I am a contributing editor.

Pre-Running Diary Post...
Couple of thoughts before I start the Running Diary... Among other elections that might qualify as landslides: Theodore Roosevelt over Alton Parker in 1904, 336-140. Woodrow Wilson over Roosevelt and William Taft in 1912, 435-96. Warren Harding over James Cox in 1920, 404-127. Herbert Hoover over Alfred Smith in 1928, 444-87. Franklin Roosevelt in all four of his elections, with electoral votes of 472, 523, 449 and 432. Lyndon Johnson, who carried the tongue-in-cheek nickname "Landslide Lyndon" for his razor-thin 87-vote victory in a Texas Senate race, over Barry Goldwater in 1964, 486-52. Richard Nixon over George McGovern in 1972, 520-17.
I think McCain has a chance but I am going to tell you right now that I don't think he will win. I think Obama wins. I think the Democrats will have 58 seats in the Senate.
This post is really a preemptive strike against those who will call an Obama win a landslide. I personally believe that it is impossible for Obama to get a landslide win tonight. But for those out there that will look to make that call lets look at historical elections that were land slides.
Political columnist William Safire writes in his "Safire's Political Dictionary," that the word landslide made its appearance in the natural-disaster sense in 1838, and that headline writers began applying it in the political context a few years later. He defines it as "a resounding victory; one in which the opposition is buried."
Keep in mind that there are a total of 538 electoral college votes up for grabs.
In 1988, the first President Bush drubbed Michael Dukakis 426-111 in the electoral vote, but the popular vote was closer, 53 percent to 46 percent. Dwight D. Eisenhower, in the first of two lopsided victories over Adlai Stevenson, in 1952 came out ahead 442-89 in electoral votes while the margin was 55 percent to 44 percent in popular votes.
This is a Senior Senator calling for the country regulate talk radio like it is porn... are you F'ing kidding me?

Football now... Politics later
So I have not posted in the past few days, work and family obligations killed my weekend and the past two days...
With such a great weekend of football how about a couple of my thoughts...
The Steelers once again won their yearly home game in Cincinnati 38-10. The sheer number of Terrible Towels in that stadium year-in-year-out is amazing. No wonder the Steelers have won in that stadium 8 straight times. Just nice to see.
Hines Ward threw this awesome block on LB (that is Line Backer) Keith Rivers, breaking his jaw.
There was no penalty on the play so I expect a letter in Ward's mailbox tomorrow informing him of the league's $15,000 fine for clean blocks that injury players that can't keep their head on a swivel. After watching the video again on youtube.com I put the chance that Lewis wet his pants after the hit at around 50/50. Feel free to offer you own odds.
Heath Miller had two catches, bringing his season total through six games to...18. That's on pace for 48, which would actually be one more than his 2007 total of 47. That statistical analysis is for all those people out there that drafted Miller saying this will be the year that the Steelers go to the TE. I am now lighting my fantasy football team on fire.
PA football is looking pretty good at this point...The Steelers are 5-1 and first in the AFC North. Pitt is 5-1, first in the Big East, and 17th in the country. Penn State is first in the Big Ten (or is that Eleven, I can never remember) and third in the BCS.
Given that the Steelers are 5-1... they could go .500 in the remaining 10 games, finish 10-6 and would be in the playoff for sure. I think that a reasonable expectation at this point of the season is 12-4. That or higher should be the goal.
In other football news... I hope you saw the Wade Phillips post-game press conference on Sunday... I have looked all over but could not find video so I will just describe the scene for you. You know in Saving Private Ryan where Tom Hanks is shell shocked on the Beaches of Normandy. That is what Phillips looked like after the game. I was watching him talk and was waiting for the camera to cut to a scene of Romo wandering around the turf carrying an arm that may or may not be his, with TO screaming at Phillips about how if things did not improve he was going to begin doing cardio in his driveway again. I am pretty sure I saw Phillips put a helmet on his head that was full of salt water and blood. Needless to say Dallas is F'ed and all because Jerry Jones collects player with baggage and problems like Hideki Matsui collects Japanese Porn Tapes.
Now for some links...
Peter King brings up the looming Player Union/NFL Owner labor disputes in his MMQB column. This will be the most important issue in sports after the NFL season. It will effect drafting, player signings in the off season and trades. It will hang over the league and the teams until it is resolved and if it is not fixed properly it could drive this league into the ground...just read the first 6 paragraphs and move on to...
Is technology killing bowling?
This is sports today...
You know it is a real sport because both of these guys have an awesome chin strap.
Rugby players are tough... insensitive cold-hearted pricks, but tough. Best line of this story: "Organizers held a minute's silence before allowing play to go on." I think I am going to start watching Rugby
The top ten worst college mascots... I don't agree with the whole list. Having a crappy mascot can be cool... maybe that is just me.
This is how baseball fights go down in Korean baseball... I am NOT making this up.
Speaking of baseball...since it is not the Red Sox or the Yankees in the be World Series most sports fans are tuning out... so naturally we need to discuss the MLB hot stove
I will finish today's sports post with Terry Tate... Office Linebacker. I missed him.
Thanks for checking out the site and feel free to comment or email at billybearcat@gmail.com

Couple predebate links...
200,000 fake voters in Ohio???
Murtha thinks Western PA is racist... I am from Pittsburgh and just like every where else there are idiots but Murtha is just a jerk calling Pittsburgh racist.
PETA wants Big Brown castrated... can we stop letting them talk yet?
Nine awesome places to have sex and the horrific consequences... this is very funny.
8:55 Here we go... tonight's beverage of choice is Fess Parker Pinot Noir. Surprisingly it does not taste like a coon skin cap. I have a whole bottle... lets hope this is enough, I think I will need a second. Mrs. Bearcat has been nice enough to bake me some sugar cookies to keep me happy during the debate... that will help.
9:03 They are going to be sitting at a table with Bob Schieffer which might help McCain engage Obama and try to hold his feet to the fire.
9:05 First question the economy... Dow dumped nearly 8% today... that did not help McCain in dealing with this question. Neither of these guys seem to understand the bail out package. I don't think anyone understands it... Obama just promises everything. Tax cut here, breaks and incentive there, invest in health care, schools, spend, spend, spend... I feel poorer just hearing him talk about all this.
9:09 McCain talking to "Plumber Joe" about affording his business... sweet set up move. Planned and scripted... but well placed. Obama "talks" to the camera better than nearly anyone... I don't think anything he says is true but he makes it sound so good. F... I think I am going to ask "Plumber Joe" to give me a cup of Drano... I can't handle this.
9:11 McCain is tying the "spread the wealth around" quote around Obama... why would you want to raise taxes in a time like this? Obama goes right back to 95% of America will get a tax cut.
9:14 Sitting at the table is helping McCain... he looks less old. I think this is a big help.
9:17 Glass number 2... this bottle looks kind of small at this point. I still have at least 90 minutes of writing to go.
9:21 McCain "Sen. Obama I am not President Bush. If you wanted to run against President Bush you should have run four years ago." Zing! Point! McCain is going after him on each point so far. Can he keep it up?
9:23 Obama is claiming that he not very popular with trial lawyers (tort reform), environmentalist (clean coal tech) and teachers unions (charters schools)... are you F'ing kidding me? That is your constituency Barry... these people worship you as the savior.
9:26 Bob's question regarding the tone of the campaign... is good. Bob wants to know if they will say to "each others face" what their campaigns are saying. Great question. McCain is still talking about the town halls that Obama reneged on... come on. Public financing renege by Obama another nice one... Obama's turn... To McCain "100% of your ads are negative." Really? Obama is right that him bailing on the town halls is no justification for going negative... (you know what is justification for going negative in a campaign? Wanting to win. That is enough for me. Politics is a contact sport. Just my 2 cents)
9:32 The CNN tracker that runs at the bottom of the screen looks like it is reacting better to McCain than it has in the past. 1/3 of the way through and McCain is up. Obama is tracking well again. Still one hour to go. Cookies are warm, right out of the oven...Got to love Mrs. Bearcat for this.
9:37 McCain talks about Ayers without talking about Ayers by just quoting Hillary... smart. Obama is going to talk about Ayers... look out!!! Here we go. He tells the same story about Ayers that he has already told a hundred times. ACORN... discusses his work as part of legal work with the motor voter law... what about all the pork you sent them Obama? McCain nails it... Obama says that he did not launch is political campaign in the Ayers living room... isn't this established as fact? Maybe not but I believe it... McCain wraps up with "he will raise your taxes"... Obama spent more time on this than he probably wanted.
9:42 Question tailor made for Obama... why is your VP choice the right one? Obama does not talk about Palin but simply talks about what his administration will do... McCain has a tougher job. He needs to make people feel good about her after what has been a tough couple weeks for her. (Glass number 3... looks like only one glass left in the bottle... shit we are only half way through this... at least this one is not he snooze fest we had last time) I don't think he helped on this front one bit. Obama was asked point blank "Is he qualified?" He said "Not for me to decide..." Boring!!!
9:47 McCain "Sen. Obama keeps saying "we need to spend more, we need to spend more..." Nice one... tax and spend seems to be the theme. McCain said he can balance the budget in four years... you have got to be kidding me... there is no way with the current economic climate. Obama just promises to keep spending every dollar he thinks he can get.
9:48 Bob says "We have got to more on we are running behind." Why is this so strictly limited to 90 minutes? Let these guys go at it until we are done. What are the networks going to do dump the feed and run another crappy episode of Night Rider? God that show sucks...I watched 15 minutes of it by accident a couple weeks back and I nearly jabbed a pen into my ear... it was that bad.
9:51 In discussing his plan to fix our dependence on foreign oil Obama just promised to look at off shore drilling... McCain picked it right up... nice... McCain is on his A game... McCain is starting to look smug... don't get cocky... the American people can smell that through the TV.
9:55 Obama is willing to loan the big three auto makers cash to stay on their feet but is going to then hand them rope and hang them by forcing "highly fuel efficient cars" into production. The American people don't want slow, pocket protector looking cars. Speaking of fuel...just this week OPEC called a meeting due to the current oil crisis... the price was going too low!
9:58 Obama is talking to the camera again like only he can regarding health care... this will track well. Of course I hate it. He is going to crush the tax payers with health care...
10:00 McCain is tracking nearly as high as Obama on health care until he starts talking to Plumber Joe... that is a lead balloon on the CNN tracking. Obama says he will exempt small business from that fine that would only apply to large businesses...they will pay into a kitty... should like a tax to me... McCain did not pick up on this. Obama says that the average policy costs 12,000 dollars... that is a crazy I don't believe it... not for a second. 12,000 dollars to insure who? Where does that number come from? McCain says it is 5800 bucks... that should more reasonable... still extremely expensive but less than half of what Obama thinks it is.
10:07 Obama talking to the camera again... this is working for him I think. Bob is moving the debate into Abortion...McCain claims to be a Federalist... I need more booze after that one. Moving on... McCain's record on voting for liberal Supreme Court Nominees is good... he votes for the qualified nominee...Damn I am missing the new South Park... I hope you readers appreciate this.
10:15 This abortion question is dragging on too long... nothing new to see here. Both seemed to do pretty well on that one...
10:17 Bob-o moves on to education and I am moving on to Jameson... yeah I crushed that bottle... time for the hard stuff... on the rocks. When Obama started talking about the personal responsibility side of improving education that has to test high... I agreed with that stuff. But he wants to just throw money at the schools... are teachers really underpaid?
10:22 Obama is talking of federalizing the public schools... please NO!!! Local control is a crappy enough solution if the feds get involved with public school we will have a nation of kids who can do nothing but cash government checks...my wallet is having a seizure at just the thought of this... F... Irish Whiskey is only 80 proof. Where is a moonshiner when you need him?
10:26 Vouchers... School vouchers are the anti-Christ to Teachers Union. Is there anything they hate more than school vouchers? I am guessing mystery meat day in the cafeteria is a distant second.
10:30 Obama is talking to the camera again... so smooth. McCain does not do it like he does.
Obama talking to Joe the Plumber...Obama told him he plans to "spread the wealth around" video linked.
10:33 "Plumber Joe" got 15 mentions... just in case you were wondering. I think McCain did not do enough to get a knock out. I think on substance McCain wins... on image Obama just makes the bridge between the stage and the living room. I think McCain scored big points on the Economy... Obama was not as good as he was in the past two debates but it was not bad enough to have a significant effect on the outcome. I think you can say that McCain won the debate but it really does not matter. He did not win "enough."
That is pretty much all I can say tonight. Expect the next political running diary to be on election day. Till then please check back frequently as I will be doing my best to offer up links and commentary. In related news...currently I am in discussions with JP and Max Power (the guys that did the NLCS baseball preview and Philly vs. Dodgers running diary) to start a new blog. I will be sure to direct you there if things come together. As always please comment below even if only to let me know you are reading, where you are from and what you thought or email at billbearcat@gmail.com

Links and quick debate preview
Sorry for the lack of posts over the last 72 or so hours... expect more over the the rest of this week.
The man behind the whispers on Obama… a great read…
The late polling and highly accurate IBD/TIPP poll has started today with its daily tracking of likely voters. Just off the press: Obama 45; McCain 43; and 13 percent unsure. The poll of 825 likely voters has an error margin of +/- 3.5 percentage points. Also, McCain has a 48-41 lead among investors with 10 percent not sure. All this is good news for McCain. IBD/TIPP poll is the homestretch poll that has great internals and I think has excellent accuracy. I am not just saying this because the news looks good. I have written to IBD to see if I can get a look at the internals of the poll. If you care about the election and the current economic climate checking IBD is a must everyday. This poll should be tracked daily for the next 21 days. I like this poll above the Newsweek poll which has Obama up by 11 points… The internals are just a mess a quick breakdown…
Newsweek has McCain winning Republicans, 89 to 7. You have Obama winning Democrats, 91 to 5. (I'm a bit skeptical, but for now, for the sake of argument, I'll accept your assertion that PUMAs are extinct.) You have McCain winning independents by 2 percent, 45 to 43.
And this adds up to an 11-percent Obama lead in your latest poll.
We are to believe that McCain is losing among women by 9 percent, but losing among men by 14 percent.
We are to believe that the Hillary voters are lining up behind Obama, 88 percent to 7 percent.
We are to believe Obama is winning 18 to 34-year-olds by 10 percent, but he is winning 45 to 64-year-olds by 16 percent.
We are to believe the white vote is just about even, 46 percent for Obama, 47 percent for McCain.
And we are to believe the electorate in November will be 27 percent Republican, 40 percent Democrat, and 30 percent Independent.
If the over/under on the partisan breakdown on Election Day is 13 percent, I'd take the under. I wonder if anybody in Vegas would take that wager...
How to win tomorrow's debate...
McCain: McCain’s overriding theme in the debate and final stretch should be TRUST. Doubts about Obama must be given voice. Trust is the vehicle. “My friends, who do you trust to lead our nation in a dangerous world? Who do you trust to lead our troops to victory in Iraq and Afghanistan? Who do you trust to fund and equip our troops? Who do you trust to veto tax increases that will destroy jobs? Who do you trust to keep taxes low for all Americans? Who do you trust to veto wasteful spending? Who do you trust to protect trade agreements that export American products and increase jobs at home? Who do you trust to stop the government from taking over health care and destroying the finest health care system in the world? Who do you trust to appoint justices to the Supreme Court? Who do you trust to protect Israel from a nuclear Iran? Who do you trust to protect the Second Amendment?" Ayres, Wright, Rezko… can you trust Obama when he lies and misleads about his friends? Do you want his friends spending the night in the Lincoln bedroom? Trust, trust, trust… recall that this theme brought Hubert Humphrey from political oblivion to a dead heat against Richard Nixon in October 1968.
Obama: Needs to just get it over as soon as possible. There is nothing positive that Obama can do other than just get it over with as soon as possible with little to nothing said. He needs the most boring debate in history which will be a big feat given how F'ing boring the last one was. Obama's mission, get it boring. Don't give anyone any reason to remember the debate or even to care that it happened.
PA might be a lynch-pin for McCain… He is trying to win it… if he wins PA I figure he will win the election. I think he can do it. If he wins PA then that most likely means he will win Virginia, he has won NC and Ohio is a win for him. PA will be an election day indicator for how the race will finish.
On Krugman getting the Nobel Prize for Economics… I think that Krugman’s work on International Trade and World Economies are most likely important enough to earn him the Nobel but the Krugman in his columns couldn’t be more different. He routinely fudges facts and, when called on it, refuses to admit error. He never presents both sides of an argument dispassionately and then uses reason and observed experience to discern the truth. He consistently demonizes anyone who doesn’t agree with him. His shrill, hysterical voice trivializes honest differences and invites counter-attack rather than reasoned rebuttal. Plus he’s not even well-informed on many issues that fall outside his academic specializations. His work in his post-academic career just opens him and the Nobel committee up for attack. I am not going to second guess his selection but if you read his stuff it is mostly one sided leftist dribble. I think he should have stuck to academia.
On to more interesting stuff from around the net...
This guy tried to pay for his Big Mac with pot...
Maybe I am just crazy but this article in the NY Times about taking the keys away from Grandma had more than a dozen lines that had me cracking up...
Bestest Best Man Ever...
